The Canadian Expeditionary Force Study Group discovered that Private Dougal McKay was accidentally buried in Stornoway, Quebec instead of Stornoway, Saskatchewan. Apparently no attempts to relocate the body was made after the error was discovered.

Hard to believe but true!

He is reported to be buried in the Saint-Alphonse-de-Winslow Cemetery in Stornoway and accordingly we have posted a request for a grave site photograph. The Eastern Townships of Quebec are of particular interest to a member of the CEFSG in that area.

Check out Find a Grave - says he had TB and died in a Regina hospital and supposedly buried in Stornoway, Sk.

You can contact the memorial creator on his listing there.
