Could you please check to see if you have any McRae family in your records. It could be spelled Macrae or Macray, etc...but they were all either directly from the above place or near it. They settled Mt. Johnson when Sir Johnson offered the land if they would work it. My 4th gg grandfather, John McRae settled it and lived there and did not move away as many others did. Later it was changed to the above name Mont St Gregoire...He married Catherine McIntosh about 1787 prob. in Scotland and may have been aboard the ship that landed in 1802 with 300 highlanders on it to settle the land. John also had another wife, Christian McCauig married in 817 in St Gabriel, Iberville. Any reference to the McRae name or variants of it in the above area would greatly be appreciated. THanks.
