Thank you Bonnie for looking. Mayabe you could give me a bit of information. My 3rd great grandparents were John McRae and either Catherine or Margaret McRae. He was born about 1767 and from what we have been able to gather, came over on the Ship Nephton in 1802. It had about 700 Highlanders on it. Those highlanders that came first, got lots on the mount , I assume Mt Johnson as it was called then. Sir John Johnson was the one that had them come over and the early ones got the lots on the mountain, and the other moved to wither Williamstown or Glengarry in Ontario... John stayed there until at least 1838, so he must have had a lot on the mountain. Are there any land records for that early of time frame that would show him buying the land either from Johnson or the quebec land office etc? It is possible that John was just buried on his land...not sure what cemeteries were in operation about 1835-40... Is there a church called St Marie De Monnoir today that exists? IT was first called St. Mary parish and I think later, took the above name. But they seemed very entrenched in this parish. Maybe more church records from that parish could help us.. He was mostly Catholic, but also had some of his children blessed in Presybterian or St. Gabriel of Montreal. John Married a second time to Christian McCuaig in 1817 in St. Gabriel, Iberville etc... The scots were so clannish, they all pretty much stayed and moved together. Any early types of documents for Mt Johnson or Mont Saint Gregoire, as it is now called, would be very helpful. If you could just get me on the right path on who to write or call. I don't speak French, but can piece it together in writing... Anything that can give us some leads down here in Utah USA, would be a big help... Thanks. Lance
