My c.d covers Wagga, Griffith, Narrandera, Leeton etc and all the surrounding towns and he is not listed.
There are other Castle burials listed though, if you are looking for some other ancestor.
Maybe Benjamin does not have a headstone which is why he is not on cd. Try contacting the cemetery direct or the local library in West Wyalong they should be able to help you.
Hope this helps

Hi Kirsten

Thanks for the extra information. I am a fairly distant relative of Olive Lauretta Wilson (4th cousin 3x removed, on the Wilson side) so I know less about the Teese family than you do. I do know that Netta Teese married Clive William Thiedeke on 11 Jun 1938 at Tamrookum, and died 1 June 2007 on the Gold Coast (the latter from the Ryerson Index). I know no further details; I would need to find the actual death notice to see if other family members were mentioned.

Regards
Peter

Hi Peter,

Leanne is correct - my images are also available on the Australian Cemeteries website. But my further research is not. I have been researching the family history of this cemetery (and a few others).

Olive Lauretta Wilson and her spouse George Howard Teese are interred in the columbarium.

From my research, they had at least 4 children: Leonard James, Netta Elizabeth, George Alfred, and John.

Their grand-children through Leonard:
Wendy Margaret TEESE is also interred in the columbarium as JONES.
Walter James TEESE is in the monumental section.
Patricia Ann TEESE is not buried at Beaudesert.

Their grand-children through John:
Shirley TEESE is in the monumental section.
Howard John TEESE is in the monumental section, but there is no headstone.

Relations to George Howard's brother Sydney that are buried in the cemetery...
William Harold James TEESE is buried in lawn 1.

And there is a Kenneth John TEESE is interred in the columbarium, but I do not know how he relates to the rest.

Plus according to the register (from QSA) there is one more TEESE buried there, but the register had been damaged, and no details could be discerned.

Hope this helps.

Regards
Kirsten

Hi Jules!
I have the Riverina cd which has West Wyalong on it.
It shows 2 Benjamin Castle burials but one was in 1957 and he was aged 57 and the other 1935 aged 73.
Nothing for a burial in 1892.
Could he have been buried somewhere else??

Hi Kirsten

I am seeking details for Olive Lauretta Teese and members of her immediate family. I saw a thumbnail of a photo of yours on the hints page but couldn't see the full picture because I'm not a paid up member on Ancestry (only on Findmypast). The only close family member I know is likely to be there is her son George Howard Teese -- he was cremated.

Thanks
Peter

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has access to burial records for this cemetery or if anyone lives in the area could take a picture for me.

It is for Benjamin Castle
Birth abt 1817 in Essex, England
Death 28 Oct 1892 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia.

I would really appreciate any help. I would really like to know what is written on his headstone.

I am happy to return the favour if anyone needs pictures of any graves in the caboolture and surrounds area.

Thanks
Jules

Re: Scots Cemetery, in Sydney?

I have come to the conclusion that there was no graveyard in the Scots Church in Sydney. I came across an article about one of the ministers of the Church who was buried in 1853.

I am going to try to attach this article. From the article you will see that the service was held in Scots Church but the body was taken to the burial ground. The article states that many carriages made up the procession and I guess the carriages would not have been needed if there was a graveyard within the church.

I think someone else suggested that the Scots burial ground formed part of the Devonshire Cemetery which was divided up into denominations . It was closed in 1867.

Kerrie
Hi "TasG",
The re-interments took place at a number of cemeteries; NEW SOUTH WALES Public Records Office apprantely holds the DEVONSHIRE STREET Cemetery re-interment register and index.

The Devonshire Street Cemetery (also known incorrectly as the Sandhills Cemetery) was located between Eddy Avenue, Elizabeth, Chalmers and Devonshire Streets, Sydney, Australia. It was consecrated in 1820. [1] The Jewish section was used from 1832. [2] By 1860 the cemetery was full, and it was closed in 1867.
In 1901 the cemetery was resumed to allow for the development of Central railway station, Sydney and representatives of deceased persons buried in the Devonshire Street cemetery were given two months to arrange for exhumation and removal of remains from the cemetery. All reasonable costs were borne by the Government. The remains that were unclaimed were relocated to a purpose built cemetery named Bunnerong Cemetery. This new cemetery south of the city had a tram line constructed to make the removal of recasketed remains as simple as possible. Bunnerong Cemetery was next to the Botany Cemetery and in the early 1970s was absorbed by that cemetery to create the Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park

Cemetery locations in the metropolitan region that took re-interments from Devonshire Street Cemetery include Gore Hill Cemetery, St Thomas Cemetery in Crows Nest, Rookwood Cemetery, Waverley Cemetery, Balmain General Cemetery, Camperdown General Cemetery, Randwick General Cemetery, and South Head General Cemetery. Remains were also relocated outside the metropolitan area, including Sandgate Cemetery in Newcastle, New South Wales.

Hi Deeess,
Yes, on further research the 'Scots' graveyard was indeed the Devonshire cemetery. Her specific gravestone is no longer known although I have been informed there is a mention of sorts in the Devonshire Street Cemetery re-interment register and index. I haven't a copy of that so will have to one day seek information from someone with access.
Thank you for your support,
TasG

Re: Ryansvale St Michaels

Hi I visited Springfield yesterday. There are a couple of burial grounds. One is on top of a hill and contains Maple-Brown graves. The other is at the back of the property and is the graveyard for St Michaels Ryans Vale. It is apparently overgrown and the graves are in a state of disrepair from cattle grazing damage. It is not fenced off. I spoke to an owner of the property who has given me permission to place headstone markers for my family buried there (Thomas, Bridget, Ellen Clancy). She was not interested in fencing the area (I offered to pay). Goulbourn library has a list of interments at this site. I would like to get family of those buried there together to offer money for a lease of the site so it can be surveyed and fenced. Regards Nerez Grant

Colleen - the Anglican, catholic and independent all have search facilities on their websites. A google search will bring them up.

Hi to Deeess,
Just wanted to ask - is there a site online to lookup the details for Rookwood - as you did with the MOYES burials? I've just discovered a handful of burials there in my line.
Thanks
Colleen, from West Aust

Hello,

I would be very grateful if someone who visits Liverpool Cemetery or who may be even works close by if you could take a photo of the following grave:

Arthur Pearson - 1957 - Catholic section 16 - grave 394.

thank you.

Tricia

Hello Bev,
I cant help you with your request but had a laugh when I read the grave numbers you are looking for in Liverpool, because the grave number I am searching for is next door to your request for 395.

I am looking for 394 in that same portion of the the cemetery except the surname is Pearson.

I hope we find someone who will be kind enough to take photos for us.

Tricia

Hi there,

Fabulous to hear from you.

Quite a few people actually, but all I know is that they are buried there but I don't yet know their actual grave locations. Apparently there is a book somewhere which has the grave locations in it. Do you have access to the book/index?

Regards, Boz
