Cobham, Elmbridge parish records indexed incorrectly

In the London, England, Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812 database the parish of Cobham, Elmbridge has been indexed as Dobham, Elmbridge for the years 1802, 1803, 1804-1805, 1805-1806 and 1806. I sent Ancestry tech support notices but they have been notoriously slow to respond to and correct these issues.

You could be waiting years till they amend them!

In the 1851 census images they indexed Taunton as being in Somalia, rather than Somerset, and we waited years to get that corrected.

They index Harrow in the 1916- 2006 as being in Essex,it's in Middlesex. I know I was born and married there!!!

You might try contacting the National Archives about the problem as contacting the record owners has at least gotten Ancestry's attention in the past and some errors corrected. Had the idiot who indexed those parish records actually looked at the first or last page of each of the years listed it clearly states Cobham! Good luck

Contacting the repository of the original records is, indeed, a good strategy as I imagine that a degree of quality control forms part of the contractual relationship between source organisations and Ancestry. However, the repository in question here is the London Metropolitan Archives, not TNA.

Thank you! I was apparently directed to the wrong entity when I searched for the contact information. Best wishes!
