Thanks MB I wasn't aware of that website. I managed to find info on a marriage and a baptism, but for the most part the records aren't early enough or the register is missing. I imagine the Liverpool Records Office has most of them.

They could be still being transcribed - you can always volunteer!

They are usually more detailed than the civil records so can be very useful.

Try posting a lookup request on the Liverpool (see http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/ENG/ENG-LIVERPOOL.html) or LancsGen (see http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/ENG/LANCSGEN.html) mailing list. Subscribers to both lists are extremely helpful and friendly.
