I think any tree out there should be regarded as a starting point, not as proof.

People who are just starting out get excited and make assumptions that they later learn are incorrect.

And because this is all a big puzzle, there are going to be pieces that get put in incorrectly or get lost along the way.

So look at those ancestry hints for your family members, and use the family trees as a place to look - but don't absorb them into your trees. As with anything else in the information world, you need to evaluate the information and bounce it against historical records. If they found a historical record, so can you. =)
