I totally agree with you. And that's a major problem with sites such as Ancestry. I use the site ONLY to get leads on possible matches to look deeper into. The Ancestry site needs to build into it some type of checks-and-balance mechanism, such as that included with the Family Tree Maker software. When it detects a possible duplicate, or obvious errors such as those you mention, it warns you about them and offers a chance to correct the the information.
