I have found that Fremont County is missing from the available counties on Ancestry. I called the State of Colorado archives and they indeed had the Fremont County portion of the 1885 Colorado census (he was holding it as we spoke) and did not know why it would not be online with the rest of the counties. Does anyone have any ideas on this and how can I request that it be added to the collection online? Thanks!

Hello. I see that Fremont County is still not in ancestry. Did you ever find a satisfactory resoultion to this from ancestry? If not, where did you look to get the records beyond actually going to Denver or Canon City?

Thanks. Kathi in western Colorado

I actually went to Fremont County in Canon City and they had the records there. Still don't know why it's missing from the Ancestry database. You can try calling the County to see if they would look it up and copy the pages to you. Their office personnel is very helpful. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help. I think we'll plan a trip to Canon City. I need to go to Fairplay and Cripple Creek too for other records so just make a little trip of it. Thanks again.
