How about doing the "add child" to the correct parents.
Use, select a person, from your established tree.

Ok then go to the profile of the 'wrong' child.
Select Edit this person.
Stick a middle name into their profle.
Save.
Now Bill Jones is Bill tom Jones.
Call him up from your List of People and delete him
