Personally, I haven't noticed any deterioration in the performance from Ancestry.com's servers. (I have Win 98, IE 6.0 and Mozilla 1.2.1, 256 MB RAM, cable).

Have you tried connecting with a different browser? Mozilla can be downloaded at http://www.mozilla.org . Mozilla can also be configurated to stop pop-up ads, which is nice!
