When you set your "Collection Priority" to the appropriate country, be sure to also check the box beside it to "Show only records from these collections". When searching for records for my gg grandfather who was born in Scotland, lived in Canada where his children were born, & died in the US, I can narrow down each country's records by changing collection (all the while having the above referenced box checked.)
