(Sent copy to help desk. I do not know the public board this should be on) I am very disappointed in the predatory subscription practices of Ancestry.com. I never expected it from Ancestry. I had always respected Ancestry as an the industry gold standard and trustworthy corporate name. It started with the email I received to re-new my membership. The email instructed me to click a button and easily renew my membership. No where in the email did it state that if I had clicked that button I would not renew the membership I had, 1 year U.S., but buy a year of the more expensive World membership that I have never had nor can afford. Then I went to the "My Account" page and there is nowhere to subscribe for less then one year. They say you can get 1 month, quarterly, 6 month accounts but these is no where that links to a page I can order less then one year.
I can not afford a year account and if I can not subscribe for less then I will have to regretfully close my account. Has anyone else had the same experience?
