It doesn't work that way.

What you have to do is put am item on the TO DO list and then somehow mark them on your tree. I've found the easiest way to do that is just add a graphic to them.

I have one graphic named "TDF.jpg" I designed that says "To DO Follow UP". I then add that to everyone on my todo list.
