"When on a record extract page, the "Save record to someone in my tree" returns you to the main tree index. I want my pop-up box back!!! This is a bad, bad, bad change if it was intended."

This is not new. I have been getting this intermittently for probably 2 years, particularly if the record is for a family or person I am newly working with. It may also vary with server loading (e.g., traffic). But I agree that it is a bit irritating, especially when the system is acting slow.
