KEEP OLD SEARCH FOR CUSTOMERS I WANT WHAT I PAID FOR!
I have been a subscriber for years. The old search is far more superior in finding what a person is looking for. The new search takes longer and does not work as well. Please reconsider for paying customers. I would never have paid $300 knowing I would not be able to use the old search.
I paid for it and I should be able to use it.

You paid for access to the database. You still have that.

Re: KEEP OLD SEARCH FOR CUSTOMERS I WANT WHAT I PAID FOR!
I also paid for the format I was using. They are taking that away.

I don't recall the specific search engine format being listed in the features and benefits of a subscription. I'm certain that it's not listed that way now. Adapt or move along.

I am guessing you did not read the fine print.

Show me where it says that your subscription includes guaranteed access to a specific format of search engine, and I'll eat my hat.

Re: KEEP OLD SEARCH FOR CUSTOMERS I WANT WHAT I PAID FOR!
I could really care. I can't believe you responded. When I person signs up for a program such as this it is because they like the format. Believe it or not. The database is no good when a new format is introduced and it gives a person page upon page of garbage which is what it was doing. Why would I pay for that? I would not. I paid for what was currently being offered at the time.
People like the old search engine. There is no reason not to keep it. It works fantastic. If customers prefer the old search, let them use it. The hope is that someone from Ancestry just might read the message board and think twice about taking it away.

Re: KEEP OLD SEARCH FOR CUSTOMERS I WANT WHAT I PAID FOR!
It's been debated to death. Contrary to your assumptions (shocking, I know!), there are valid reasons for making the change. I'll tell you a not so secret. I prefer old search as well, though I am willing to adapt, one because I have no choice if I want to continue here, but also because old search has not searched all the databases here for quite some time. Why would anyone willingly miss out on finding records just because they would rather throw a tantrum than take some time to learn how to use new tools?

Re: KEEP OLD SEARCH FOR CUSTOMERS I WANT WHAT I PAID FOR!
I prefer Old Search too...and I can find what I want using Old Search in about 10 seconds when to find the same thing with New Search takes me about 15 minutes. BUT...I also understand from what was drilled into my head back when I worked for RootsWeb and Ancestry years ago that to stand still on the Internet is to lose and to die. Things keep changing and we just have to change along with them. I DO wish the changes would have been more of an improvement which I don't feel they are in many cases but I do understand that when it comes to the Internet "if it ain't broke don't fix it" just isn't applicable.

Re: KEEP OLD SEARCH FOR CUSTOMERS I WANT WHAT I PAID FOR!
I used the new search they offered before as I mentioned. It was page upon page of what I was not looking for. I went back to the old search. Perfect. Found what I was looking for. Surprise! I prefer the old search. Went back to it after trying their new search that didn't give me the results I was looking for. Shocker eh?
