Mary Eva was adopted by Mary Ann COLE and probably her husband Theodore COLE (d Jan 1857 Center, Rock County Wisconsin).
Mary Ann and Mary Eva resided in Roscoe, Winnebago Co., Wisconsin in 1860. Mary Eva was married to James WELLS by 1870 in Rock Co., Wisconsin. Mary Ann COLE resided with her sister Esther ALDRICH in Brodhead, Green County, Wisconsin in 1870 and 1880 census. I don't suppose anyone would know who her biological parents were, but I wondered if others on the board have experience with historical adoptions where confidentiality rules don't apply. I would be interested in strategies used by other researchers.
