I am new to this posting board, but I would like to encourage anyone needing Adoption information concerning an Adoption in Wisconsin, be aware of the Wisconsin Adoption Search Law, Stat 48.432 and Stat 48.433. The Wisconsin Dept of Health and Family Services in Madison administers the INFORMATION that you seek. The TRIAD groups are the Birth Parents, Adoptive Parents, and the Adoptee. The Law protects the right of EACH. At age 18, an adoptee can request non-identifying social history of the Birth Parents and medical and generic info of the Birth Parents. At age 21, an Adoptive can request a search for the Birth Parents, and with both Birth Parents consent, obtain identifying info. THIS RIGHT TO OBTAIN ADOPTION INFORMATION IS NOT WELL KNOWN. If an Adoptive was adopted in ANOTHER state, the laws of that state determines access to the information. If I can help anyone, contact me. Jack R. Nasep, Adoption Search Volunteer
