I have recently found an ancestor on the 1920 census, Sarah Smalls (b: 1976/d: unknown), who was listed as Chinese while working as a servant for a woman named Mary Beudt. At the time, she was living in Ward 10, Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina. Does anyone have any information on Chinese immigrants to Beaufort, St Helena Island, and Charleston, South Carolina? Any information would be highly appreciated.
