I am researching my husbands Marshall & Miller side of the family from Charleston,S.Carolina. GG Grandfather James B. Marshall b.July 1826 in S.Carolina married Mary Jane Miller in Charleston,SC in April 1849. He was a free man of colour & fled S.Carolina in 1857 with his wife & son Edward B. Marshall & settled in Toronto,Ontario,Canada working as a coloured barber. Also in 1857 James B. & wife Mary Jane were bequeathed a property in Charleston located at 97 Wentworth St. by a woman named Charlotte Miller.I am not sure what the connection is between this Charlotte Miller & Mary Jane Miller Marshall & am looking to follow up both the Marshall & Miller family lines & connect up with anyone having info., documents or photos pertaining to this family. I have no information on the Marshall family of James B. other than his birthdate of July 4,1826 in S.Carolina.
