My grandmother, Wilma Ruth Smith (married names; Dougherty, Turner, Wood), was born in Altoona Feb 7th, 1928. She was raised as the daughter of Wilmer Arther Smith and Ruth Smith (Barrett). She was told by family after her parents death that her adoption was never finalized.

Unlike most cases of the time, she was actually aware that she was adopted, and was in contact with her mother. Savilla is the only name that I have for her mother. I have been told that she passed away in the 1960's from breast cancer. The last names I have heard in association with her are; Barrett, Dominc, and Gonzales. (Barrett is the only spelling I am certain of.) I also know that she has a sister named Helen.

There is an unpleasant story about whom her father might be, and I have heard the last name Walker in association. This may or may not be the case. I also have a theory of my own about her parentage, but again, the story is something I want to post on a public forum.
