Any one know the adoption laws for Ohio in 1895? I'm looking for any record of my great grandmothers adoption in 1895. It is rumored in the family she was adopted. I have not been able to find her birth record or certificate. The family that raised her and all she knew, the parents are considerably older ( she was age 5, they were in their 50s) so this leads me to believe it may be true. The 1900 census is the earliest record I have found and she is already age 5. Nothing before that. Any suggestions?
