My paternal grandmother was adopted in New Mexico 5 days after she was born and her birth certificate is blank. She was born on Jan. 16th, 1919, (we originally thought it was 1920). We believe she might have been Native American since the adoption was so secret or that her birth mother was a teenager forced to give up her daughter due to the time period.
Her adoptive parents were Harry and Ethel Embery of San Diego, California, who lived for a short time in New Mexico. We are just trying to piece our family puzzle together and would appreciate any answers someone might have.
