My Great Grandfather was adopted when he was three in the state of New Jersey. He was born 01 Aug 1910 and his parents died in a motorcycle accident in 1913. He was in a catholic orphanage in N.J., but his parents were supposedly Jewish. He was adopted by a family in Middlesex County who changed his name to Steven Dewey Scurato. My Grandfather (his son) knew his real name and never wrote it down. He found it in the New Brunswick Public Library, according to my family his last name was Gross. I contacted that State of New Jersey to try and get his adoption records and they said I had to petition in the court. How do I do this? Please help me.
