I am searching for the birth parent(s) of ROBERT EUGENE MCKINNEY born in Lincoln, NE. He was adopted by Neff & Emma Sowerwine and renamed ROBERT NEFF SOWERWINE. He is listed in the 1930 Census as being 11/12 months old and living with the Sowerwines. The Census was enumerated April 9, 1930 and he was born April 8, 1929, so it was taken possibly in May 1930 with the adoption being done between those dates. Thanking you in advance for your help with this.

My grandmother, Gladys Marie Franck, gave birth to a girl there between 1922 and 1929. When I contacted all of the Catholic Adoption offices that I could find they had no record of my grandmother giving a child up through them. I called the offices in Lincoln and Omaha with no luck. It is very frustrating because Nebraska is mostly a closed record state. You being the adoptee may have better results.
Good Luck
Nona
My mother - Marilyn Marie Dale - may have delivered a child that was given up for adoption in the summer of 1939 at the Industrial Home or other such location in Nebraska. I have also inquired at the State of Nebraska offices and was given a form to fill out and send back with proof of my mother's death. They said they would place that form in her file if there is one so any adoptee who may be connected to my mother could access that form and contact me. If you are out there and believe Marilyn Marie Dale may be your birth mother, please contact me.

I don't think your mother would like having her information placed on the internet for any person who is trying to find something about her to see. TAKE IT OFF.

From what I understand after his mother married his step father adopted him so I don't know what his new name could be. Does anyone have any ideas where I can get his info? I know what hospital he was born at, but not knowing what his last name is now, I imagine it would be rather difficult getting a birth certificiate (I am not even sure getting a birth cert would be possible anyways).

Please let me know if you have any ideas and thanks in advance for your help.

I am researching the Gragg family line for my cousin. His Grandfather Albert Dewey Gragg(B 12/25/1898 and D 1/5/1974) was an orphan who was a foster child to Albert James Gragg (B 1873 Oakland County, Michigan D 4/1/1965) and Grace A. Swiggart Gragg(B 2/1879 D?). Albert Dewey appeared as a foster child on 1910 census and son on 1920 census. My cousin believes he was born in Illinois. He would like to find the biological family of Albert Dewey Gragg born 12/25/1898. Thank you for any info you might have. I have a James T. Gragg(B 10/1847) and an Amy Gragg(B 6/1851) both born in Michigan and a son Floyd M(5/1890) born in Nebrasks.

Her father was James Harvey Gragg (1812 TN-1849 MO) and his father was Henry Gragg (1765 VA-1824 Mo). Could we be related?
Seeking friends of birth mother Nebr Industrial Home 1945

I'm trying to find out who was my biological father. My birth mother, Ruth Bailey Speck, was inmate at Industrial Home in Milford probably from June to October 1945 when I was born. The information that I have is that she was working in Omaha at the Peter Kiewit Company when I was conceived and that my birth father may have been in the Army Air Corps. Am trying to locate anyone who might have any information.

Austin, Raymond and Willard Barnes

My husband's father and 2 brothers were placed in St. Thomas' by their mother Lena Barnes Howard. Austin was born in 1916, Willard 1914, and Raymond 1912. Ray ran away from St. Thomas', Willard left. However, there are no records of Austin. It is our understanding that Austin deceased at an early age and we believe while a resident of the Orpahage. They were not adopted, therefore, we have not found in records for the orphange. Does anyone have any information or suggestion for how to follow up on this information. Thank you Paulette

By Nebraska Law the Dept of http://www.vitalrec.com/ne.html or Health and Human Services in Lincoln NE is required to help you search for your records and your birthparents. If they are still alive they have to go to the birthparents and ask permission to release the information to you. They are the go between. If they are deceased I believe they would give you the information so you could try to contact siblings if there are any. They are located in Lincoln, it takes awhile and because of mothers name changing when they get remarried sometimes they can't find them, but you have to be persistant.

Actually, the records are maintained by the Nebraska Dept of Health and Human Services. I'm looking for an unnamed biological father and so I came up with the idea of trying to identify/locate other "inmates" in the year 1945. After so many years, it's a long shot, but thought it wouldn't hurt to try.

i am searching for my dads birth family. he was born james leroy crounse. at least that is what we think . the name he had for his birth mother was edda mae crounse but we are very very unclear about the name. we belive she lived in omaha for a short time in 1945-1946 and moved or lived in lincoln nebraska . the info we have is that she gave birth to mt dad at booth memorial hostpitol (salvation army) home for unwed mothers on jan 27 , 1945. my dad was renamed larry victor grobeck after he was adopted by my grandparents. they ket everything pretty secret all the way to the grave so we have very little info. the adopted parents names are paul and lilian grobeck who lived in omaha ne their entire life till death. any info would be apreciated due to the records being so old and sealed all these years.

my email is tomgrobeck@yahoo.com
phone# 402-595-8863

I am trying to identify the natural birth parents of Edith Craig, Jessie Craig, and Raymond Craig. It is believed that the children may actually be their grandchildren, born to their daughter Emma Cowles Moore.

Someone has sent me the obit for Raymond Craig; the sister Edith married Evan Wagar and they moved to CA; the sister Jessie married Ray Wilkinson then divorced him to marry someone named Scarborough (no further info). I have already been told the mother was Emma Moore (youngest dau of William Moore and Emma Cowles) and the father was Harry Craig. Lancaster records indicate Book 34, Page 87 in Lancaster County will show the marriage of Harry Craig and Emma Moore but not yet able to verify this at the time. This would make the three Craig children the grandchildren of William and Emma Moore as well as their "adopted" children.

I know of my maternal grandfather's mother's maiden name-Eckstrom...her name was Ella Eckstrom.I have photos of her. I don't know that there is anyone left to question about your situation who is alive, and I don't know if we are related or if this is mere coincidence, but I also have old news articles and family documents/notes that I will look through when I can. Just fyi. I was on this site researching something for family history and came across the familiar name.
