Helping my step father out, he was born 1949 in Red Willow County Nebraska and lived in Nebraska most of his life.

I suggested he consider DNA testing to at least suggest a possible surname. He DNA tested at the 67 marker level and is a 65/67 match to Childress and a 64/67 match to both Childress and Childers surnames. So we have a possible surname to start with, and there were Childers in the 1930 Red Willow County census.

His adopted mother told him she knew nothing about his parents, only that he was about 6 months old when she adopted him. If she knew anything, she would have told him, but she did not know anything.
My step father is very interested in learning who his family is.
