My Great-Grandpa was born in Canada in 1902, was moved to an orphanage in Minnesota, and then adopted. All I know from the adoption is his birthday and birth name. His name was changed upon adoption.

He was born Francois LeBlanc on December 1st, 1902 near Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. His name became Carl Clyde Olson when adopted at an early age (I believe around 3 years old). His new family lived around Brainerd, Minnesota.

Does anyone know where to start when looking up old adoption records?
