I'm looking for a girl that was born on or about August 14, 1945, possibly to a Dorothy Mae Shepard (not certain if that is the right mother.) or Riverside, CA or Coolidge/Florence, AZ. The father was a pilot in the Italian Air Force and an Italian POW during WWII in Cooke (Camp Phillip), Lompoc, Santa Barbara County, California, Irwin (Camp George), San Bernardino County, California , and Florence (Camp), Florence, Pinal County, Arizona, and Camp Haan, Riverside, Riverside, CA. He was captured in Tunisia, N. Africa and brought to America from 1943 to 1945. He was sent home Oct. 1945. He tried to stay in America, but he was not allowed. His last residence was Riverside, CA. His name was Raffaele Palermo, and he was 22. The young woman was 18-22. His son, Stefano, lives in Italy and is trying to find this half-sister. Raffaele died in May 2004. Stefano has a picture of a baby girl dated November 14- 3 months. I do not know if this daughter was adopted. In 1946 Raeffele contacted the consul in Naples, Italy and tried to find the mother and daughter after WWII, but he was told the mother was dead. He spoke of Riverside, CA and Florence, AZ. His daughter would be 69 or 70. Any help would be appreciated. The other possibility is Dorothy Mae Shepard Rankin of Forence, Pinal Co, AZ.
