Sorry,I'm no help... I'm interested in a similar situation, a few years earlier. I've read that a child would have to go through Orphan's Court if their father died, even if their mother was still alive. Since that was my grandfather's situation, I would love to figure out how to access Nevada County Orphan's Court records of that time in hopes of finding out his father's name, date of death, etc. Good luck - and if I find out anything, I'll try to get the info to you through this thread...
