I know this is a long shot as your last message was 2008 but I have a strong feeling we are related, cousins in fact. I have three sisters, we all still live in and around Glasgow. If I am correct you have 1 sister and emigrated when you were about 16 years old.

You seemed to prefer not to have any contact with the family but I don't know why.
