My grandmother was born on this date and brought to Australia on the vessel PAKEHA by her (I think) grandparents Alexander and Mary Bairner in 1911. Her forenames are Ada May but I don't know her birth surname. Consequently, finding her birth record has proved impossible. I'm hoping someone from the Bairner family might know of an old family story of a child that was born to the Bairner family - illegitemately - and given to Mary and Alex to take to Australia to bring up as their own; or if Mary and Alex were given the child somehow. Did the baby's mother die in childbirth? was she a child of one of Alexander's children from prior marriages? I am at a brickwall and would appreciate any ideas or actual information.
