Looking for any information on Beatrice Upton who is believed to have lived in Newark Nottinghamshire about 1930. She would have been aprox 24 years old then. (possibly born about 1906)
She had a child a girl she named Evelyn Mary Upton on March 3 1930. It is unknown if Beatrice was married or widowed or single at the time of birth, also the fathers name is not known. At some point from birth to 5 years she place the child for adoption and she ended up in an orphanage. Possibly Woolaton Hall in Nottinghamshire.
The child who is now 74 years old has only faint memories of the time in the orphanage and no memory of her mother. she was there till she was 5 years old when she went to stay with a family who changed her name only slightly. to (Marlene Evelyn ______) For reasons never told to her she remained un-adopted till she was 15 years old Then adopted by this family. she immigrated to the USA alone when she was 21.
She desperatly wants to find out before she dies if she had siblings, or some small piece of information as to why she was left in the orphanage.
Living in the USA has prevented her all these years from searching. and while her adoptive parents were alive they refused to tell her anything. and left no documents except her adoption papers listing her mothers name and age.
Any help would be appreciated.
