I, too was adopted from Bogota....in 1954...birthday unknown...about end of Jan / beginning of Feb. No name, no exact birthday....from an orphanage called CASA DE LOS NINOS, in Bogota. My adoptive parents' surname was Reckendorf. I wa 6 months old when I left Colombia and went to the Canal Zone to live....for most of the next 33 years. I now live in Seattle , Wa. Looking for any info on how else to search for relatives in Colombia. Yo hablo espanol tambien. Not perfect , but enough to communicate.

Hola Carlos,

I am the board moderator and the mom of 2 Colombian adults. My younger son was adopted from Los Pisingos, like you. He is reunited with both birth parents. On the Los Pisingos web page you should be able to find an email contact. Send them an email and ask what the procedure is for obtaining identifying information on your birth parents. My son's birth mother and cedula number, as well as her address at the time, were on the documents we were given in order to obtain a visa for our son. Check with your parents, they may well have the information you need.

Remember too, the country of Colombia is Colombia, not Columbia.

Hi - I'm not sure what help I can give, but I'm also an adoptee from Bogota. Anyway, the orphanage is called Los Pisingos (I was adopted from there too - 1979) - here is a link to their foundation - http://www.lospisingos.com/ - I am trying a search as well - please feel free to email me.

my real name is carlos fernando roa born in 1981and iam looking for my family and thier roots, i was adopted around the age 4 from south america columbia bogota.my mothers name was anne and fathers name pedro i belive thier last names were roa and fernado. i belive the name of the orphanege is los pasingos(spanish meaning "lost ducks" i think), that was run by nora and rosa. have no idea if i have any brothers or sisters. looking for any answers any info would help thank you

thank you so much for your help i didnt know that they had a web page iam one step closer to finding out about me and my daughters roots. i hope u succed in finding your roots as well once again thanks. i live in ohio now, were do you live now out of curiosite?
