My name is Barbara, and I am working on my family tree, my Paternal grandmother was adopted in or around the city/town of Burlager, Germany in 1913. I do not know her birth (last) name, her adoptive last name is Bollen, her name is (was) Maria "Marian" "Mary" Bollen, she traveled and moved to the USA (NY) in 1926. The only information I do know was that she, my grandmother, found out she was adopted right before she was about to board the boat for America because there was a problem with her papers. She found out that her neighbor was really her biological mother, and offered for her to stay in Germany or go to America, she chose America. I am under the assumption that her biological parents could not raise her due to financial issues and other children to raise. If anyone can help me find how to obtain copies of the adoption records that would be amazing!!
