Hi,

what you should know for sure is the name your father was given by his birth mother (Peter Adler) and his exact date of birth and place (Frankfurt)

Most adoptees do not have their original birth certificate, but just a copy that does not reveal all the details the Standesamt (office for civil registration) has.

The copy of the original birth record will show:

- the name her birth mother/parents gave her
- her date of birth
- her place of birth
- her birth mother's name( if married parents'), date and place of birth
- the adress where she lived when she had the baby
- and in addition the info on her adoption.

An adoptee also has the right to research the mother's/parents' parents and will obtain the complete adoption paper work on request.

I would like to encourage everybody to search for his/her birth parents as it is much easier than people think it is.

Gaby
