I am getting numerous DNA matches from Ancestry were I find no surnames in common. I'm thinking this might be because my Great Grandmother, Katie Holmes was born and adopted by a Oreo and Mary Holmes in Ontario Canada. Her dob was 5/29/1879. At first she is listed on Census records as a servant in their home and then later an adopted daughter. I'm grasping at straws to get info about her true parentage. On her and John Franklin South's marriage license, she says her parents are unknown. Anyone researching Ontario adoptions ?????
