Just came across your post. I have been looking for Thomas Einar Hanson also, as a favor for a relative of his. Don't know if it's the same one but your age would be right and he lived in Rochester at one time. Did you ever find him? You can reply to my email if you prefer - james_sabot@hotmail.com.

Stephen G. Pressley

My name is Mark Eyman (adopted). My biological father's name is Stephen G. Pressley. He was born in NC in June of 1939. I've searched the internet but can't find birth records on him. I know he lived in Sacramento CA in 1961 and was in the USAF from 1957-1961. He married my biological mother, Marilyn Ludwick (not her maiden name... her maiden name is Schiveley). They had three children. Mark (Feb '61), Dean (Apr '62) and Jeff (Oct '63). Dean and I were adopted at a very young age and never knew about Jeff until 1993.
Please give me more tips on how to research the Pressley family... birth records in NC etc.
Thanks in advance.

Mark (Pressley) Eyman

Walter CLARK - Evansville,IN - C&EI Railroad - 1948
I will do my best not to make this a novel. My mother never knew her father. She was the product of a very "brief" relationship that took place when my 16 year old grandmother was visiting her grandparents in Evansville, Indiana from Washington state. I am assuming that she met my grandfather (a C&EI Railroad Employee) while she was taking the train to Indiana.

Here are the "Facts" that she had given us before she died:

This man's name was Walter J. Clark, he was 21 years old (in 1948) and he worked for C&EI as a brakeman and/or Fireman (She has said both in different accounts). He worked at the Evansville roundhouse. She would visit him at work during the weeks/month that she was staying at her Grandparents.

She goes back to Washington and discovers shes pregnant. She writes a letter to the sheriff in Evansville (why, I have no idea) asking him to "pass it on" to Walter J Clark to let him know shes expecting. She never gets a reply. She writes the sheriff again to tell Walter that she had a girl. Again, no response.

That's all we have been told. My mother was born in November of 48, so that means that my grandmother was in Evansville during Feb-Mar of 48 where she met this guy. I have looked at Evansville city directories, C&EI Employee magazines from the early fifties, census records, contacted the C&EI Historical society, poured over the browning genealogy site - you name it and I am getting nowhere.

The ONLY Walter Clark (According to C&EI Historical society) that worked for C&EI (As a brakeman interestingly enough) did live in Evansville - BUT he would have been 55+ years old - I mean that's quite the age difference from a 16 year old girl. Why would she have lied about his age? Embarrassment I guess?

I have made contact with family of this Walter Clark and they have been very helpful. They are doubtful that this was the man who fathered my mother. The only other lead I got out of that is that the Clarks were related to the Kidwells and Siddalls in the area - there was a Walter T Siddall who fit the age (would have been 21 in 1948.) He also worked as a brakeman for C&EI in evansville - problem is, in the 1948 city directory his occupation is "driver" with no company listed, and doesn't show up at C&EI until 1951.

So that's where I am at. If you made it through this you deserve a cookie. The main questions I have are: Could he have just completely lied about his name and gotten away with it? I'm assuming he would have had a name badge at work and coworkers calling him by his real name so that's doubtful. I have thought about the possibility that my grandmother was making a bunch of stuff up but really, and I mean this nicely, she just wasn't bright enough to be so elaborate and have such detail about the whole thing. So all I have for possibilities at this point are:

1) It WAS the 55 year old Walter Clark - but the age gap is so large I just highly doubt that could be it.
2) It was Walter T Siddall (1927-2007) - but not sure he was even at C&EI in 48 and then there's the whole completely different name thing.
3) It was some other Walter Clark who fits her exact description and he died/disappeared/moved away shortly thereafter?

Oh and just for fun - My grandmother spelled Clark with an "E" at the end. But I've gotten nowhere with that either.

If anyone has any brilliant ideas or theories I welcome then. Thanks for getting through this if you did. So much for not writing a novel....

This is awful for you but the search right now is a non-starter . We, adoption search angels, use various free and paid databases , to locate adoptees and birth parents so until your daughter creates a internet profile we can find , it is almost impossible to locate her . I am so sorry

Looking for friend's birth mother or father. Margaret White Rice had baby girl born on June '58. Was married to John R. Rice. Had previous girl born around 1951. Margaret had 3 brothers and one sister. She supposedly lived in Ohio but the baby was born in Montgomery, Alabama. The baby was given for adoption through Catholic Charities. The father was in armed forces and employed as a salesman, at that time had high school education. Father had one older sister. He was born about 1925.

the mother had lost custody of her 4 previous children and I was supposed to receive custody after birth. I was intentionally not put on birth certificate and not notified of birth. Shockingly, the mother was given back custody of children at birth and she immediately gave up rights and child was put up for adoption. I was never notified and unaware of what was going on. I completed a request for a paternity test but appearently filed a week too late and am told I have no rights. I only just now learned of her birthdate.

I am researching my family history and have hit a brick wall. My great-great grandfather was James Oliver Patton and he was born September 1877 in Jefferson Tennessee. The mother that was listed on his death certificate was Mary E. Rines. I have since found out she was Mary Eliza Patton who married George Rines in 1883. The family story is that his father was James/Jim Barbee but I can find no proof. And the family who raised him were not his parents. I can not find out who raised him. If anyone has any information on his father and/or who raised him I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.Emily R. Phillips

My birth father's name would be Jeff or Jeffrey R Collins, born in August of 1951 I think. He married my birth mother, Lyn S Benua Feb 16, 1979. I was born on Sept. 5, 1979. I believe they lived in Westerville, Oh or Bexley, Oh. The marriage was short, only about a year. He was about 6'7" or 6'5", brown curlyish hair, hazel or brown eyes. He may of worked in maintenance at a apartment complex or a motel chain, not sure though. My birth name was Melissa Marie Collins. I have searched for years and have been able to connect with my birth mother's side of the family, but am still unable to find anyone on my father's side. I really would like to find out the other half of me. His parents or grandparents would of lived in Florida at the time and may still reside there.

Finding Biological Dad

I have been on a search to find my biological dad on and off for about 6 years now. I just joined ancestry about a month ago and ordered a DNA test in hopes of being traced back to some relatives on his side. I just received my results today and I have many possible matches which I have contacted a few of. I don't know my dad's last name or official first name (Danny- which could have been his middle name or nickname for Daniel, I don't know). I have some info about where he lived in 1988 and that he was divorced, had a son who was about 19 in 1988. That's about as far as my resources go. I am wondering if anyone has any tips/suggestions on what I can do if there is anything more I can do to continue my search? All replies are VERY much appreciated!

Well, those are my grandparents, and that was my father's name.

If you are still on this board, I think we should communicate.

Mary Phillips Gonzales

Having found my birth-mother, I have recently found out that my fathers name is John Hellings. I was born in Wembley (01.07.68) and my birth mother, Mary Ann Bull lived in Harrow at that time.

I was taken into care and adopted at the age of two.

I have no other details of John Hellings and I am desperate to find him. I am 35 years of age. I believe he must be age 50 plus and possibly older. Can you help?

Searching for my Grandfather

Hi There,

I am new to ancestry.com and I am hoping it can help in finding some information about my grandfather. My mother was adopted as a baby and she found her birth mother but not her father. She was so disappointed by her mother, that she never wanted to look. It's kind of a sensitive subject, so I am hoping to do this online. And no, my grandmother does not know where he is.

So what I really want to know, is if I can search adoption records. I know when and where my mother was born, my grandmother's name (and my grandfather's and roughly his birth year.) I am hoping someone who is a wiz on this site or others, might be willing to help.

Thank you!!

I have been searching for my Father's birth family for several years now. I fee like I'm running out of options, but will never give up. I had received his non identifying info early last year & felt like I had a lot to go off of, but apparently it wasn't enough. He was born March 9th 1967 in Oakland CA @ Highland Hospital. His mother was 22 at the time of his birth. She was divorced. I've been able to find out that her maiden name is FINK. She was born in 1945 in Oklahoma. I'm assuming her birthday is between Jan-March because the papers listed she was 21 when she first contacted the Welfare Dept in Jan of 67. She was described then as 5'7" apprx 140lbs Olive complexion (she is part Native) they said she could have easily been mistaken as latino or hispanic. Her hair was dark reddish brown, long and wavy. Her eyes very dark and "expressive". Almond eyes & high cheek bones. She worked as a cocktail waitress. Was raised by her grandparents in Colorado, they owned a cafe/bar for as long as she could remember. She eloped at age 16, married again around 1962 when her first child was born. A girl with the last name COOPER, born in Oklahoma. That is the name my Dad was given at birth "Baby Boy Cooper". She divorced again & remarried in winter of 1964. She gave birth to her 2nd child in 1965, another girl- last name unknown. If ANY of this sounds familiar or you know any information... Please help me out. Thank you for looking & reading. If you have any more questions, I may be able to answer... I have a few pages of info, just no identifying info. As far as his Dad- I think I found him on here, he was 39 at the time of his birth. He was a truck driver w/ an engineering degree. The man I think is his father is John Schmidt. He had 2 sisters, both blondes. He lived in Colorado as well. I don't think that he knew he had a child. If you have any information on him as well- I'd truly appreciate it. I attached a photo of my father- it may help.
