I have a bit of a tricky query. My great granny was adopted as a baby. Her mother, Jessie Constance Veal, lived in Lancashire but gave birth to Mary in Scotland. On Mary's birth cert it has the information of her mother and that Mary was illegitimate. I have since been able to trace Jessie Constance and her family tree.

However, her father is a complete mystery. I have other family members who were illegitimate who I have not followed up as it is difficult to know. Mary's case is slightly different. The family story is that when Mary went to find out more about her genetic parents she was told that money had been paid and an injunction taken out so that her father wouldn't be revealed.

Is there any way of finding that information out now as it is 109 years since Mary's birth?

Mary was born in 1906 in Leith, Scotland but her mother Jessie lived in Kirkdale, Lancashire.
