Florence Crittenton Home (Atlanta) May 1950, Child Born Aug. 1950

I am looking for the names of a Fulton County family that matches the following description: The family consisted of the father, mother, & three daughters. Father was 52 in August 1950 (birth year est. 1897/1898), Mother was 48 (birth year est. 1901/1902), oldest Daughter was 23 (est. birth year 1926/1927) & was married as well by August 1950 & may have still been living her parents; middle Daughter was 21 (est. birth year 1928/1929); youngest Daughter was 15 (est. birth year 1934/1935). They came to Atlanta, or a nearby city, in between 1936-1937 when he transferred from a lumber company where he worked in the sawmill in another state to learn how to operate a power machine that trimmed telephone poles. His wife had been a stenographer at the lumber company which is where/how they met in the unknown city & state they moved here from. The oldest daughter worked as a stenographer with a car company (completed high school & a business course); middle worked in the same field but with a retail credit corporation (completed high school); youngest may have completed tenth grade in the spring/summer of 1950 but transferred to another school for her junior year (& may have dropped-out & gotten a job during her junior year). The father was six feet two & weighed 175-180 pounds; mother was five foot three & weighed 185; youngest daughter was five foot six, weighed 170 pounds, brown hair with bluish-green eyes & long eye lashes, she also enjoyed singing & sometimes participated in her school music programs. The father had two brothers one a minister & the other a farmer, & four sisters one who owned an "apartment house"; one who did clerical work; one married but did not work; & one who worked in a college. The mother had an unknown amount of sisters. Her older sisters did not complete high school but the younger ones did; one of these sisters worked in an office. While I realize I am quite possibly looking for a needle in a pile of needles stranger things have happened in genealogy & I greatly appreciate any help that is offered for this is a lost family of mine that I would LOVE to find!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
Lena

Do you know where your sister was born (which state)? How did you learn about her? If the state where she was born and probably adopted has an adoption reunion registry, sign up for it. Also, sign up for the ISRR.

Were you also given up for adoption? I can suggest some groups that you can join for search help. Please email me.

Suggest you look in the US Census closest to your mothers birth year. for example: if mom was born in the l930's look in the 1930 census or if not there look in the 1940 census. She might listed and it will tell you the relationship to the Head of Hoousehold which will give you your grand parent's names. Possibly an address. Good Luck

I am the person whose original birth certificate had the name Charlene Ann Thomas. Born 7/27/35 and left at the Kansas City Cradle when I was 6 mos. old. Adopted and moved to Okla. when I was 11 months. I found out the "cradle" was flooded and records destroyed years ago. I have a letter from the home describing my birth parents as being from Kansas City, Mo. area. Was once called "Mary Ann" by a lady who claimed she knew me, was from K. C. Would like medical info if any family exists.
My mother was born in or around Kansas City, MO with birthname of Charlene Ann Thomas 7/27/36 (I think the year is right). She was put up for adoption but the agency is no longer in business and haven't been able to find any other info. We think there might be siblings, as MANY people asked my mother at different times in her life if her name was Thomas, but at the time she said no, because she really didnt know. She was adopted at around 18 mos old to a family in Oklahoma named Forsbach. Any info will be appreciated!

My husband, Steve Hartman, was born in Fairmont, WV. He was adopted at about 8 months of age. His birthdate is Dec. 14, 1954 and he may have been born at home. His birth certificate lists Doris West as the midwife. DNA testing through Family Tree DNA, suggests his father's surname may have been Lake.
Hispanic Baby Boy born April 27, 1968 looking for birth family

My name is Daniel, I'm looking for my birth family. My DOB is April 27, 1968 born at KU Medical Ctr in Kansas City, KS. At the time of my birth my adopted parents lived in Kansas City, MO. KU Medical Ctr. was about 3 miles away from their home.

Adopted Parents: Everett "Miles" Elsrode & Virginia "Marie" Elsrode - Both of my adopted parents have been dead for 20+ years. Everyone in the adopted Mother's family says they don't know any details & can't remember anything except that my birth Mother lived with Marie (my adopted Mom) for about 2 1/2-3 months and went into the hospital under Marie's name. There's no paper trail because it was an illegal adoption. Also, my birth Mother & her Father came many times to find me to take me back ~ that's why we moved over 20-25 times during my childhood.

Growing up I always felt "different" like I was an outsider.... My adopted family had blonde/white hair, blue eyes & very fair skin. My adopted parents were Irish, English & German. I'm Spanish (Hispanic) & Native American. I have olive skin, dark brown hair & light green eyes.

My adopted mom faked her pregnancy & it was an illegal adoption with no paper trail. EVERYONE we have spoken with knew she faked her pregnancy and it was handled illegally & my birth Mother wanted me back. My birth Mother was young & from New Mexico &/or Colorado. Her 1st name could be "Marlene". My birth mother was probably born between 1947 - 1950.
Dearest Alex,
I am your Aunt Andrea on your dad's side. We miss you so very much, and hope that one day we can be reunited. By the time we were contacted about your adoption, you had already been with your foster family for little over a year. We had no idea that your mother gave you up, and your dad was still paying child support while you were in foster care. Even though it was extremely hard to do, your dad thought it was better for you to stay with the family that you were with. We were told by the adoption agency in Hawaii, that you were happy and well taken care of. Please, please if you read this know that we are here and we love you and think about you everyday. You have a family here waiting for when you are ready. I love you will all my heart, and still carry around your picture that I took with you when you were about 2 years old. Hope that you read this. We love you.

Andrea Ta(Bird)aunt ~Chong Bird grandma ~Moises Villafane father~ Sherry Villafane aunt

Nathaniel,

We are your birth family - Carlson. Please look under "Adoption Queries" where I have posted a longer message for you when you are old enough to look for us.

We love you and we can't wait until you are old enough to find us! Your dad didn't give you up for adoption, they took you from him. Your mom was in foster care when she had you, and DHS, the foster care system and many other people blocked us from getting you. We were only allowed to see you a few times. Such a long, sordid story... heartbreaking. We just want to see you and tell you how much we love you! We want you to know that you have FAMILY!

Find us when you can, Nathaniel. It's so hard waiting, and not watching you grow up. Hope we can make up for it when we are able. Please find us.

Love always,

Grandma
(staciecarlson@yahoo.com)

Love you so much,

Grandma

I think it might help even more if you gave some indication of where the adoptions took place - even go on a specific country board. Someone might point you to organisations or people who know your area. Best of luck anyway.

Help - searching for birth sister

Hi there,

i am hoping someone maybe able to help. I am currently doing some research into our family tree, and am working a family called Frost in the Woodbridge area of Suffolk.

We have information that there is 3 birth children in this particular family, Mark A born in 1964, Stephen C born in 1967 and a girl, born 1965/1966. All three children were born to Beryl Frost and were subsequently adopted. I have original birth details (obviously not adopted details) of Both males, however the girl cannot be found on any records I have searched. We know that there was a sister, as adopted mother confirmed that she was called in sometime between 1965 and 1971 (although we believe the child would have been born at some point in 1965-1966) to take on the sister of her first adoptee but she couldn't take her.
I could do with some help on how to trace this birth, if this is possible! It has driven us mad for a few months now!! Any help would be gratefully accepted!

Thanks

Vikki

Naomi, my name is leslie McKenzie and I was a good friend of your mother, Cathy Rougas, when she lived in La Junta, Colorado. We graduated from La Junta High School in 1971. I have lost touch with her. She has lived in Cranston as well as Providence. I am wondering if you have been in contact with her. I would like to contact you by e-mail if possible. You can find me on facebook as well and that might be a good place to start. George and Margurite are both deceased. You have an aunt Debbie and Aunt Becky. The last I knew, Debbie was in RI and Becky was here though I have not seen Becky for years. I really never knew Debbie. Look for me on Facebook. Sincerely, Leslie

Jeanne,
I tried to email you on your post but there was a problem with email address. I am Darleen Dolan. My father is John F. Dolan Jr originally from Chelsea Ma. His father was named John F Dolan too. My grandparents divorced and she remarried a Smith but her maiden name was Sargent. My grandfather remarried but I do not know her name but I know that they had children. I don't think that the siblings had anything to do with each other after the split and death of their father. My parents married in 1966 and resided on Chestnut Street and shirtliff st in Chelsea until about 1969 then they moved to Michigan. We moved back to Mass in 1984 to Orange Ma where he still resides. He is 68 years old now born April 3.
I am searching for my aunt that was born and placed for adoption between 1937-1940 in CA. Irish/Scottish birth family. Her birth family would have been from MO. Her birth mother would have been around 20 years of age, short, blond/light brown hair and blue eyes. I don't have a name...just my mom's non identifying information from CA.
