Don't forget the local newspapers too; they archive everything nowadays. Try the HOUSTON CHRONICLE and the HOUSTON POST, and THE GALVESTON COUNTY DAILY NEWS (35 miles from Houston). It is the oldest newspaper in Texas and a run-away with journalism awards; very active in documenting. They have been in business 160+ years and could help you. I'm from the area there though living 4 hours away and visiting there often. May I ask where (geographically) are you located.
