Ohio Timko Family

I'm looking for my mom's birthmother and family. She was one of five children from an Ohio Timko family. We believe my mother's birthmother's name was Marianne Timko at the time of the adoption. She was 5'2", blonde w/ blue eyes and considered attractive. They were a Catholic family. Her father died of a stroke in the late 1950s.

According to my grandmother's meticulous records, my mother's birthname was Elizabeth Timko which was later changed once she was adopted.

Marianne was 22y.o. when she had my mother on Nov. 19, 1959 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was on her way to California to visit a brother when she stopped in OKC for help from the Catholic Charities.

Would be very interested in any info on her birthfather -- all we know is that he had brown hair and was of German ancestry.

I'm looking for medical information on the family was well as curious if anyone is still out there and interested in a connection.

I've attached a photo in case she resembles any of her birth parents -- she's on the left with my sister on the right.

Thanks!

I don't know if you know this, but the Ohio adoption records are open.

I wish you all the best in your search. Hope this helps.

Thanks Candice, she was adopted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma however -- her birth mother was en route to California at the time. Oklahoma's records are not open at this time. I don't think Ohio would have anything on it, even if that's where birth mother was originally from?

Hi:

Have you found Marianne yet? The one that shows up in CA doesn't seem to match the age you have given in your post. If you haven't found her may I suggest you request "non-identifying" information on the birth parents from the state of OK? This will hopefully verify some of the information you have on Marianne...especially her age and place of origin. Here's a link about that: http://thenationalcenterforadoption.org/wp-content/uploads/2...

As the child of a deceased adoptee you also have the right in OK to request they open the adoption file through a Confidential Intermediary. The degree of information you might get always varies from state to state. You can read more about it here: http://thenationalcenterforadoption.org/wp-content/uploads/2...

I think the most important thing is verifying Marianne's age and if she was, in fact, from Ohio. There's a Mary Ann Timko on the 1940 census there that matches her age (b abt 1936/37) that could be her, but any shred of additional evidence you could gather would be helpful. Once you have additional information please let me know and I will review it and let you know how I think you might be able to proceed. I am a volunteer adoption researcher with 30+ years of genealogy research experience and would like to try to help you!

Good luck,
Terri
