I am helping a friend who is trying to find a 1/2 brother. His mother was from near Elloree South Carolina. She "ran off" and got married around 1939. The 1940 census shows her living in a boarding house in Charleston SC. Some time after that she showed back up on the farm in Elloree pregnant and claiming to have been abused. A male baby was taken to Columbia. The family thinks he was put up for adoption but I guess he could have been taken to an orphanage. The father joined the Navy around 1944 and a divorce was filed in Alabama in 1947. We think he left for the service and didn't file until he got out. He stayed with his family in Alabama. So our timeline is 1940 to 1944. I have pictures of the mother and of the 1/2 brother and of course names. One hint is that the 1/2 brother is very curly headed which he gets from their mother. I have a few more facts if someone would like to message me. Thanks for any help!! John
