Thanks for the link. There is quite a bit of information there. Part of my issue is that I am not part of the "triad"...neither birth parent nor adoptee. The adoptee (my grandmother) died in 1977, five years before I was even born.

I could perhaps reach out to a descendant of one or both of the suspected birth parents, but under what kind of auspices? I respect the sensitivity of the subject. It could be very upsetting to them to learn that someone thinks one of their ancestors was unfaithful.

I think the mother was sent away from her hometown to have the child. She then immediately filled out the birth data and surrendered it to an orphanage. Ten months later, the adoptive parents were approved. It appears to have been as "clean" an adoption as possible.
