Dear Crystal,
I saw your posting and recalled my own experience with the former Edna Gladney Home, now known as The Gladney Center. Since last 1972, I have communicated regularly with this agency seeking to have my letter, of my contact info updated several times a year, for almost 30 years, placed into his file should this male caucasan dob 07-19-1972 at Galveston, Galveston County, Texas at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Approximately three years ago, I received an answer much to my surprise as no other letter had been acknowledged in this way in the past. I communicated by mail with a younger lady who informed me that Texas laws had recently (at that time) changed and that all agencies are required to keep a registry of child and mother of whom of these should contact them. Texas is now required by law to maintain these files for the purposes of linking together child and birth parent(s). This lady was so very nice; she was informative and helpful in the "red tape" department. I found I myself am not eligible to register as I am neither the adopted one or the parent(s); however, after several more letters not acknowledging my infos, in the end, I was assured my letter was indeed filed.
This long story only is to say that should you wish to contact The Gladney Center, it's still located in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. This address is packed away at my house but it's easily obtained and there's a certainty of friendliness and willingness to assist that so very much impressed me about my contact person.
Thank you for reading this far as your patience is now evident. You were so kind to allow me to relay a good experience on a subject you posted about.
They get an A+.
