Mary D (Judy) Heynes service as a British radar operator during WW2?

My mother was a British citizen and I was told she served in the British Armed Forces as a radar operator during WW2. My family and I are very interested in receiving any information concerning her service activities. Regretably, she passed away in 1974 and never spoke of her wartime experiences. Luckily for me, she met my father (a US serviceman) during this period and ultimately married and moved to the US where she and her parents lived in Texas until their deaths. I have no contact with any remaining relatives in Great Britain.

My mother's full name was Mary Druscilla Heynes and she was born in Kidderminster in 1922.
I would appreciate any information concerning my mother with regards to her military service.

Respectfully,
Jon F Holt
Cypress, Texas

Please can anyone help me to locate the records of those women who assisted in the war effort by joing the Womens Auxilliary Air Force during the second world war. I would be grateful to anyone who can help with this. My husband's mother (Florence Muriel Ridley) was a member, but we have no record other than pictures of her wearing her badge, to go with her son's memory of her in uniform.

Found the info...from a historical Society in St Kew

"She was travelling from the United States Air Force Base at Stonehaven to Aberdeen when the RAF lorry in which was travelling hit a wall. "
Her Death Certificate states she died “1945 September Ninth 5h 0m P.M.“ (I take that to mean 5pm/1700 hrs) at the Royal Infirmary Aberdeen; cause of death you know. On the reverse of the Extract of an entry in a Register of Deaths is an extract from Register of Corrected Entries (Vol 10, page 57),which states under Cause of Death “Increased Intracranial Pressure Secondary to Fracture of Skull, Subarachnoid Haemorrhage and Cerebral Laceration (the result of being thrown out of RAF Motor Lorry when said Lorry struck a Wall)”. This was signed at Procurator Fiscals Office Stonehaven 26th September 1945"

Jody
I contacted Ancestry for help, this is what they have sent me:

Thank you for contacting RootsWeb regarding your question about the WAAF records. As the RootsWeb admin for the boards there isn't anything I can help you with this. All I can say is if those records are in Ancestry.com they would be in the military records section. However, Ancestry.com may not have them so another suggestion would be Fold3 which is a military only records site.
If there is anything else with which we might assist you, please let us know.

If this is of no help let me know?

Regards

Janice
