Elsie I. Brooks, 90, passed away May 20, at Barberton Summa Hospital, Barberton, Ohio.

Elsie was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Akron, Ohio (Summit County) and was a World War II veteran of the Army Women’s Auxiliary Corps.
Elsie worked at numerous locations including Roadway, Alside Inc., Lectromelt Castings and retired from Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron in 1987.
After retiring and before she became unable to, Elsie travelled with a group of girlfriends to numerous locales including Australia and two trips to Alaska, including one in a motor home. Elsie was a huge sports fan, especially the Barberton boys and girls basketball teams and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Preceded by her husband, Bob Brooks; daughter, Evelyn Fry and brothers, Chet and Ron Hayth; survived by her brother, Pat (Elnora) Hayth; daughter, Norma Brooks; son, Robert (Mildred) Brooks; grandson, Donnie (Quata) Tucker; granddaughters, Natalie Spears, Laura (Justin) Hurlbert and Emily Brooks. Elsie is also survived by two great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be May 23, 10 a.m., at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Tina Nees officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Elsie memory.
