Just Google Military Units assigned to Utah Beach D-Day and the results give the answer ...
VII Corps....
http://www.army.mil/d-day/beaches.htmlmap:
http://www.army.mil/d-day/map.htmlNow do a search of VII Corps D-Day and look at results.
But any "Corps" will be made up of thousands of men in different Divisions, then divided into Battalions then Platoons, then Squads.....
According to this website,
http://www.ddaymuseum.co.uk/d-day/d-day-and-the-battle-of-no... , US Forces landed on Utah Beach with 34,250 personnel. Plus Airborne assigned. So you want a complete list of those who landed or Airborne too? Really don't think it exists or can.
Welcome to the world without Computers. Men transferred in and out and their "papers" may not have been processed in time to be on any list for fighting in anyone battle....they may be on a list but on sick call on D-Day. My nephew-in-law arrived in England assigned to a bomber Squadron upon his first day. But his first night he was awaken at 3 am and told to report to fly on a mission as substitute co-pilot of a different bomber in a different Squadron. He ended up the only surviving crew member after being shot down and was a POW for the rest of the war. It took 3 months for his "papers" to reflect his reassignment to a different Squadron and Bomber.
Look for Reunion websites, some are for Divisions, some Battalions, some Platoons and some even Squads. Contact the Veterans Museums around the country about their Photo collections and Units represented. Even County Museums have displays of "local men & women" who served that have donated information and photos.
The Combat Photographer didn't bother with names of individuals just places and battle names. There are no Veterans with photographs of the actual invasion...they were too busy staying alive and the individual portable camera wasn't widely available till 1948 or later. Now some combat photographers may have taken pictures upon request of units and individuals in the "down" time but those were usually developed on the spot and given to those that requested them and not sent to any Military Archives. Those would be the type found in Museums and Memorial websites.
