What ship is in these photos?

I have a bunch of military photos that were found in my grandmothers things, there are numbers on the bottom, I talked to someone in the military and they thought if I contacted HR for the military I could get names for the people in the photos. Does anyone know if that is possible, I do know that most of the photos look like they are on a ship, in one photo there is the golden gate bridge in the background. The possible branch of military does look like navy, but according to other family members my grandmother knew no one in the navy, only men in the marines and army, which family members have ruled out those men are not in the photos, with that being said does anyone know how I can get the info to who is in these photos?

Thank you for your interest. The ship in question is a Troop Ship, WW 2 era, in this context returning members of the US Army to the San Francisco Port of Embarkation. I've noted men wearing the shoulder patch of the 6th Infantry Division as well as the XXIV Corps, which served in the PTO. Also note the rank chevrons the men are wearing. Some of the chevrons have the letter "T" beneath the stripes. The US Army only utilized the "T" in the rank chevron, 1942-1948.
Please note the photograph, top row, far right, to the right of photograph #487-6. There are some letters, maybe in dark paint near the bow of the troop ship. Are you able to make out any of the letters &/or words? If so, that would be of tremendous help toward ACCURATE historic research.
Also, do you have access to your grandfather's Discharge Documents (WD AGO Form 53-55)? If so, please provide me with ALL THE DATES typed in Box #36 on page two of your grandfather's Discharge Documents (WD AGO Form 53-55).
Good Luck with your quest.

Respectfully,
