My father, Pvt. Murray Lechner, was an infantryman in the Army in WWII. He was wounded and captured in the North African Theater in Dec. 1942. He was a POW in Stalag IIB and was liberated in 1945.

I recently found a letter to my grandmother from a Harold L Frye, dated 1944. Pvt. Frye had been liberated from a POW camp and was in a hospital in the states. At one time, he was in the POW camp with my father and he was letting my grandmother know that my father was ok.

I am looking for anyone who was in Stalag IIB from Dec. 1942 through April 1945, that may remember my father, or who just has information about that time.

This is Polish http://rawelin.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2265 but if you view it in google chrome browser or if you paste it into google translate, https://translate.google.com/ it gives the following pretty good English translation.

Harold passed in Tennessee in 2008 aged 91.

The man in that record was a WW2 POW, and there were only 3 people called Harold L. Frye, who enlisted into the U.S. Army in WW2, and only one of them was a POW, and only one of them was born in 1917.

His wife passed in 2012 aged 87.
