I am looking for information about the movement of this troop once it left the USA in 1944.
I am also looking for information about how the signal corp served. I believe they were in Leyte, Luzon and the Philippines but not sure. Did they go to Australia?
Is there a resource that would provide more info on this unit?
My father, Howard James Phillips, was in this unit
Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much.
My father worked in the Sigaba Main. Do you know what that was exactly? I know what Sigaba machines were but I am unclear as to what Sigaba Main means? There is no MOS assigned to this position.
Thanks

In the context of what you have typed, "Sigaba Main" reads more like a location than a "what". Would you be so kind as to share with me ALL THE DATES typed in Box #36 on page two of your father's Discharge Documents (WD AGO Form 53-55)?

The unit was deactivated in Japan on May 15th 1946, so depending on whatever time frame applies to your phrase "worked in" if Main is a location it might refer to Japan, or it might refer to a sub section within the Company which had the responsibility of operating those machines.

BTW - Why are you posting on the WW2 photos message board. ?

Unfortunately, did not locate his discharge papers in his paperwork. In the state of Oregon, county clerks hold the only surviving copies and children of deceased veterans do not have a right to get a copy by statute.

So what I am looking at is his Separation Qualification Record where all of his military occupational specialties are listed.

Thanks for your help.

I guess I posted this on the wrong board, I apologize if I did.

Forgot to add that all his paperwork burned in the 1973 fire at the National Archives. Tried that also. Thanks

Discharge Documents are in the Public Domain, so anyone can obtain a Discharge Document from a County Court House. I have done so from scores of Court Houses in each of over 30 states.

Yes, approximately 85% of all US Army (that includes US Army Air Force) Personnel Files were destroyed at 9700 Page Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63132. But the unit records were NOT at that location. If you know the unit the Veteran was assigned [assigned] to prior to September 2, 1945, obtain the unit records.
